Welcome to the Denton Texas Branch of the American Association of University Women! The mission of the AAUW is to promote "equity for all women and girls, lifelong education, and positive societal change". Events of Interest
"The Status of Women at UNT: A Progress Report" Keynote Speaker: Dr. Beverly Nash, "What Happens When There's No Accountability" Dr. Nash is a former LAF recipient. Her talk will start at approximately 5:15 pm. March 29, 2007, 4-6 pm, Eagle Student Services (ESSC) Bldg Room 225, University of North Texas The talk is free to the public.
Chiapas Project Update In 2004, Donna Rohling talked to members about the Chiapas Project, an offshoot of the Grameen Project developed by 2006 Nobel Prize Laureate Dr. Muhammed Yunus. The Grameen and Chiapas Projects provide small loans to women in underprivileged countries to start their own small businesses. UNT has recently announced that they have started a fund-raising campaign for the Chiapas Project. Used ink cartridges and cell phones are being collected for recycling. The funds raised will go directly to the Chiapas Project. If you would like more information, see the online article on the UNT web site.
